Guidelines for Sponsorship of the Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign
Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON) has worked hard for over a decade to organize and work in solidarity with the Onondaga Nation. As partners for a shared future with our Indigenous neighbors, we seek to highlight the injustices which have been heaped upon them, including the illegal taking of their land and efforts to destroy their culture and way of life. Much of our work involves creating opportunities for our Haudenosaunee partners to share their stories.
We seek to support Haudenosaunee sovereignty at all levels of our activism. In our efforts, the Haudenosaunee and other Indigenous Nations retain full control over what portions of their cultural and political practices to share. We work to clear our educational materials and organizing plans with our partners at Onondaga first, and do not engage in any activities which are not welcomed by the Onondagas.
It is essential, then, that organizations sponsoring the campaign agree to accept the primary goals and organizing model of the campaign. Sponsoring organizations are invited to participate in the organizing of the overall campaign and/or on specific components as the campaign develops.
In addition, sponsoring organizations are asked to:
- Make a financial contribution (ranging from $50 to $10,000 or more depending on your ability to contribute). Click here to donate!
- Help publicize the campaign through your own media (newsletter, website, social media, etc.) and mainstream media in your community. The organizing committee will provide templates and informational materials.
- Assist with organizing educational, cultural, solidarity or fundraising event(s) in your community/region as part of the campaign.
- (for those in the Capital District, Hudson Valley or New York metropolitan area) assist with logistics connected with the Symbolic Enactment in your region. This could include providing food, housing, transportation, publicity, etc.
